Pediatric Residency Program

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is home to Brenner Children's
Hospital and a tight-knit community of health care professionals.
Brenner Children's Hospital is a state-of-the-art tertiary
referral center where residents are exposed to a wide variety of pathology
through patients from both the community and referring hospitals. Brenner’s is
a "hospital within a hospital" model of a children’s hospital which allows us to
have pediatric-specific care and ancillary staff, while keeping other hospital
resources nearby.
We are a resident-driven program. With fellows in only the
neonatology and pediatric emergency medicine, our residents are on the front
line with both specialists and generalists when caring for our patients.
Our program directors and faculty work together to train and mentor outstanding,
well-rounded pediatricians ready for the next step in their career.
“General Pediatrics has been an excellent fit for me! I always felt as though Wake provided excellent volume and "safe" autonomy. However, prior to being on my own, I had absolutely no idea just how special our training is. My group (partners, nurses, front desk staff) have told me on numerous occasions that it feels like I've been there forever. I definitely attribute my comfort and confidence in caring for children and their families to the training I've received over the past three years. Thank you for that! I will be forever grateful."
