Brenner Children's Hospital offers families and their children advanced evaluation and therapy services for all speech, language, communication and feeding difficulties. Whether your child has a language delay, a swallowing or feeding problem or a more complex cognitive disorder, our pediatric speech-language pathologists can develop an individualized treatment plan that is right for your child. Compassionate, Child-Centered Care
All of our speech-language pathologists hold national certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensure from the state of North Carolina. Also, many are Beckman Oral Motor Approach certified, certified lactation consultants, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach trained, Board Certified Specialists in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (BCS-S), VitalStim® Therapy certified, registered MBSImP® clinicians, and/or National Association of Neonatal Therapists (NANT) members.
In addition to being highly trained, they use a family-centered approach that focuses on making your child's care experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They have experience helping patients from birth to adolescence that have:
- Speech difficulties or reduced clarity
- General language delays (trouble understanding or using language)
- Stuttering
- Concerns about social use of language or pragmatic delays
- Feeding or swallowing difficulties
- Changes in language, swallowing or feeding ability due to seizures or traumatic brain injury
- Central auditory processing disorders
- Augmentative communication needs
- Cochlear implants (or may be a candidate)
